Financial Calculations for the Financial Planner™
The Financial Calculations for the Financial Planner™ is a computer-based study aid that includes a workbook and 100 practice questions to enable you to solve problems involving the time value of money, cash flow analysis, capital budgeting, and the measurement of investment risk.
You can view a sample questions with keystrokes here.
The workbook and questions include the keystrokes for the Hewlett-Packard, model HP10BII calculator. Of the financial calculators on the market, the HP10BII is the easiest to use and it only costs about $50. If you use a different calculator, you will have to use slightly different keystrokes. However, the calculations will not differ.
You must have the ability to solve problems involving the time value of money, capital budgeting and investment risks. You must also be able to use numerous formulas. Some candidates failed the Examination because they could not quickly and accurately answer these questions.
The 100 pages describe the concepts of:
- basic mathematical functions;
- time value of money with single sums and annuities,
- nominal and effective rates of return;
- capital gains tax;
- accumulation planning with real, after-tax rates of return;
- bond valuation;
- capital budgeting;
- basic statistical functions; and
- measurement of investment risk.
The 100 practice questions enable you to solve problems involving the time value of money, cash flow analysis, capital budgeting, and the measurement of investment risk. As you study each concept, you answer the questions on your computer. The Software marks your response and displays the keystrokes required to solve the problem. You cannot print the questions or solutions.
