Strategic Financial Planning
You will find the six-hour CFP® Examination to be very challenging. You will require considerable knowledge of financial planning and excellent exam writing techniques.
Gobeil's Strategic Financial Planning Course™ was designed to help you pass The CFP® Examination. The Study Aid is available as Software and includes an e-book on Strategic Financial Planning, 180 multiple-choice questions and 50 constructed-response case situations with many questions.
The e-book of 222 pages focuses on steps 4 and 5 of the financial planning process: identifying and evaluating financial planning strategies, and implementing a financial plan. You can view the e-book on your computer; you cannot print it.
You can view the Chapter on Education Planning here.
The chapters are:
- Personal Financial Planning
- Financial Management
- Personal Assets
- Education Planning
- Income Tax & Benefit Planning
- Investment Planning
- Retirement Planning
- Risk Management
- Estate Planning
The e-book identifies the strategies that you could use in each area of planning and the facts about each strategy that you would need to consider when evaluating the effectiveness of each strategy. The e-book also describes the tactics for implementing the strategies and the rationale for the tactics.
The Multiple Choice Questions
The Guide says that the examination will consist of approximately one and a half hours of multiple-choice questions. The Exam Blueprint says that multiple-choice questions will comprise 15% to 25% of the FPE2. Based upon the last three offerings of the FPE2, you can expect about 26 multiple-choice questions.
The Blueprint also says that 31% to 35% of the questions will be the dreaded synthesis/judgment questions that cause great anxiety because it is very difficult to select the best answer; having narrowed the answer to two choices and not being able to get any further.
The Study Aid includes more than 180 multiple-choice questions with an emphasis upon synthesis: the development, evaluation and recommendation of strategies resulting from the assessment of information. Some of these questions were also included in Gobeil’s Collection of 1,000 Questions™.
Constructed-response questions are questions that require you to produce answers in your own words, using your laptop computer. The questions usually include a table to fill in response to a very specific question, such as what are the advantages of an RESP for the Adams' family. These questions will range from short-answer questions to longer, extended-response questions. The constructed response questions will involve client situations that require you to complete an analysis, prepare a written report, draft a plan or write a letter to a client.
You can view a constructed-response question here.
The Guide says that the examination will consist of approximately four and a half hours of constructed-response questions. The Blueprint says that constructed responses questions will comprise 75% to 85% of the FPE2.
While you will have successfully completed a Capstone Course before writing the FPE2, a Capstone Course requires you to apply the six-step financial planning process, but does not have to include any specific preparation for constructed-response questions.
Our Study Aid includes more than 50 constructed-response case situations with many questions and with an emphasis upon synthesis: the development, evaluation and recommendation of strategies resulting from the assessment of information.
You answer these questions on your computer and then mark your answers using a marking key included with the Software.
